THE PROPOSED UNITED GRAND LODGE.
[BY TELEGRAPH.-—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Te Aroha, Friday. At an emergency meeting of Lodge Te Aroha, held last night, a resolution was passed without dissent, favouring the movement to establish a Grand Lodge for New Zealand. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Friday. St. Andrew's Lodge of Freemasons have agreed to a resolution affirming the desirability of establishing a Grand Lodge of New Zealafld. Dunedin, Friday. A largely attended meeting of Masons of the three constitutions, at which representatives from country lodges from Oatnaru to Invercargill were present, was hold at the Masonic Hall, to-night. Brother Sydney James, as senior P.M., presided. Dr. Fitchett moved, and F. A. H. Burton seconded a resolution, " That it is desirable that a United Grand Lodge for New Zealand should be formed," To this, amendments were proposed, being to the effect that the proposal was premature, but they were negatived by large majorities, and the motion was carried, there being only three dissentients. It was then resolved that those present should form themselves into a Masonic union, to promote the movement.
