NORTHERN WAIROA RACING CLUB. [BY teleoeaph.—own CORRESPONDENT.] Dargaviixk, Saturday. The Autumn Meeting of the Northern Wairoa Racing Club, held at Mangawhare, commenced yesterday under very favourable auspices. The entries and acceptances were very numerous, and general satisfaction was felt by horao owners at the handicapping which has been done by Mr. Percival. The steamer from Auckland brought a good few people, also the steamers from both up and down the river, and also the train from Opanaki. About 500 people were on the course. The stewards had evidently looked well after the course, which was in capital order. The various racing clubs of the district have amalgamated, and now form one good and strong club. Thin being the first ineetihg of the new club the stewards have every reason to be satisfied with their endeavours, as everything connected with the meeting went off well, the racing being good throughout. Dr. Norton officiated as judge, Mr. P. Marks as handicap per in the place of Mr. Percival, who in absent at Napier. Mr Taylor, us clerk of the scales, and Mr. J. Quirk as starter. Messrs. Blakie, Brimblecombe, and Enko had the totalizator, the working of which gave entire satisfaction. At the back of the course in the last round Corrigan and Investment drew well away from the others, and a well-contested race ended in a dead heat, Tawhiao some way behind. Dividends, and 'i'Jn.
