On Tuesday, Feb. 26, the members of Drury Wesleyan Church gave a soiree in aid of the circuit funds. The affair was, in spite of the gloomy weather, a decided success, and after partaking of substantial tea. the evening was very pleasantly enlivened by the choir singing some excellent hymns songs by Miss Ballard, Miss. S. J. Cossey, and Miss Bessie Ballard ; readings by Mr. Law and T. Fielding; an address by Mr. John Stembridge, and an instrumental trio by Mr. Dixon and his two sons. The programme was enlivened by some amusing and appropriate anecdotes by the chairman (Mr. Law). At the close of the proceeding, a most hearty vote of thanks was given to the ladies who had so liberally and abundantly provided the refreshments, to Miss Louisa Cossey for presiding at the organ, and to the choir, ana to all interested in carrying the affair to a successful issue.—[A Correspondent.]
