The present Promoters propose to erect a cheap but effective Mill on tho Auckland Harbour, say, Upon one of the Harbour Board's leaseholds, to bo obtained at a small yearly rental, capable of .cutting 75,000 feet per week, and that tho Company shall not purchase and hold bushes beyond such limited areas as may be considered absolutely necessary as a "stand by," but shall rely for supply of logs on the open market and on contracts with bash owners to supply them as required. The object will be to work the Company ■with as little dead and unproductive stock as possible. Thocapital required for such an undertaking would be small, and the amount of interest chargeable proportionately so, and tho present tiir.6 is especially opportune for purchasing mill machinery on very favourable terms. It is not at present intended to call up more than l-'s txl per share. As to the returns which may be expected, the mill, capable of cutting 4,000,000 feet per annum, stock jrf logs, and reserre bush, would require from £12,000 to £15,000 capital; this, at a moderate margin of 23 per 100 feet, would yield £4000 per annum. The Promoters have received large promises of support, and are sanguine that a ready market will eresent itself for what they can produce at remunerative prices. The utmost economy will be used in the management, and the undertaking will not bo loaded with promoters' shares, paid-up shares, or other objectionable burdens, and care will be taken to avoid having jo pay interest on borrowed capital.
