GREEN V. TAYLOR.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —In your report of the case before the Onehunga Court, held yesterday, you omit important fActs that 1 stated in evidence. In justice to myself kindly insert the following:—l. The man Green was dismissed by me some four months ago in consequence of his insolence; that he came to me in three weeks' time, and begged to come back, promising good conduct; that I took him out of charity, and gave him a good home. 2. That, in regard to remuneration, I gave him money from time to time, though I had not agreed so to do. 3. That he was not required to work on Boxing Day, but simply to draw water for one cow, and refused. 4. That the man had kicked me, and tried to strike me with a crowbar; also, broke windows, &c. Surely, such conduct needed severe measures in the absence of the police, and had I not administered the man some punishment at the time more severe consequences might have resulted. Let me say that in all my fourteen years' experience as an employer I have not como in contact with one so ungrateful, violent, and deceitful, as the man Green, and no wonder the case was dismissed by the Resident Magistrate.—l am, &c, Cornelius Taylor. January 10, ISS9.
