WELLINGTON NEWS NOTES.
[BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Wellington, Thursday. POLITICAL. The Ministry have- been in Cabinet tho whole of this forenoon and afternoon. With regard to the appointment to the vacancy on tho Supromo Court Bench nothing has been decided. Nothing has been suffered to transpire as to the deliberations of the Council. I have tho highest authority for stating, contrary to rumours now afloat, that no appointment has boon yet made. As to the Railway Commissioners, ib is believed that thero is a good deal of difference in tho Cabinot upon tho questions relating to it. These questions mainly relate to personal qualifications. For this reason, probably, they will take tho more time in considering them, but outside Government Buildings tho discussion ia becoming quite warm. Mr. Maxwell is tho subjoct of eulogy in the morning papers, bub tho two evening papers strongly object to him. I have mentionod from time to time all tho official candidates, but several think thero should be no official appointed. It 13 protty well known that somu good Parliamentary men aro looking to tho prospect of getting one of these Commissionerahips. It is extremely probable that the appointments to the Judgeship and the Commission will occasion some surprise when thoy shall bo announced. S.S. HINEMOA. Cable and Son, of Wellington, are the successful tenderers for tho repairs and alterations to this vessel, at £2595. PATENTS.
