Early yesterday morning the s.s. lona reached port from Tauranga, &c, and left again shortly after 8 a.m. for her regular trip to the Barrier. Instead of leaving at 10.30 p.m., as lately, the s.s. Wellington will, to-night, sail for Whangarei at her regular hour, 7 p.m. Owing to unfavourable winds yesterday, Captain Murdoch, of the Loch Urr barque, did not resume his voyage to Valparaiso, as intended, but will probably get away during to-day. It is expected that the ship Ugglau, for New York, and the barque Orskar, for Falmouth, will leave port to-day, and start for their respective destinations. Shortly after midday yesterday the Union S.S. Co.'s fine steamer Mararoa left the Queen-street Wharf on her trip to Southern ports and Melbourne. She had a large number of passengers on board, the majority being visitors returning home from holiday trips to the North and Australia. A fair amount of general freight, including some blood stock, was also taken away by the steamer. The showers yesterday interfered considerably with the discharge of the cargoes of the ships Dunedin and Waitangi. We learn from Messrs. Stone Brothers that the brigantine Ryno sailed from Newcastle on the 9th inst., with a cargo of coal for this port. The barquentine Devonport, recently in Auckland, has been fixed, through C F. James and Co., to load baulk timber from Hokianga to Melbourne. The barque Balcarry, whicli was in company for nine days with the schooner Vindex, which arrived on Tuesday, is bound from Newcastle to Iquiqui on the west coast of South America. From Sydney files we notice that the smart barquentine Frying Scud, Captain Corlett, which recently loaded at this port, is to return to the colony, having accepted a charter of coals from Newcastle to Wellington. ■ After a round trip extending just over a month, the smart little schooner Orpheus is again in port. She was one of the fleet of i Bailing crafts which left for New South Wales recently, having left Auckland on December 2. ~ After discharging she went to Newcastle, whence she brings a cargo of coals. The conBignees, Messrs. Stone Brothers, intend to despatch her to the Thames'to discharge, and have fixed her to load timber there for Lyttelton, and then return with produce to Auckland. The schooner Torea, recently purchased by "Messrs. Donald and Edenborough for the Island trade, has for the past few days been in the hands of Messrs. Sims and Brown for ; repairs, and has undergone a complete over- . haul from keel to truck, and when the well- : know D E flag is hoisted on the little clipper • Bhe lyjjl.be as good as new. She will §W for

Rarotong_a in a day or two, under command of Captain J. Dickson, late of the Ada C. Owen. The Russian warship Nayedivk should arrive in port either on Sunday evening or Monday morning. She left Sydney on the Bth instant, and is capable of steaming 13 knots with ease, but it is more than probable she will not be pushed to a greater speed than 10 knots. After a short stay here, during which she will probably refit, she will return to Cronstadt by way of Cape Horn, calling at Monte Video en route. The s.s. Wellington arrived last night from Whangarei, with a large number of passengers and general freight. At a late hour yesterday evening the barque Northern Chief arrived in harbour from Newcastle, bringing as cargo 430 tons coal. Captafn Mackay reports that the vessel left Newcastle on the 31st December ; the wind was from N.N.E. for five days, when its direction changed to W.N.W. The Three Kings were sighted at eight a.m. ou the 7th mst., the weather in the passage along the coast being thick, with N.N.E. and northerly winds. PORT OF ONEHUNGA. ARRIVALS. Wanaka, s.s., J.
