DEFEAT OF THE PARKE3 MINISTRY. EXPECTED RESIGNATION". Prm Awociatim.-Electric TeUgraph.-CopyrigU Eeceived January 10, 1.35 a.rc. Sydney, January 9. In the House of Assembly, this even* ing, Mr. Want, who brought the former charges against Mr. Fehon, one of the Railway Committee, moved the adjournment of the House in order to complain of the manner in which the Government had conducted the enquiry. He contended that the enquiry was not a proper one, and reiterated the charges made on the former occasion. He made a long statement of the charges which he considered the Government should inquire into, and explain. Mr. Want made out a strong Case, and influenced the members on both sides of the House, who called on the Premier to explain. Sir Henry Parkes declined to do tins , , and left the Chamber during the discussion, and only returned as the division was being taken on Mr. Want's motion for adjournment which was carried by 37 to 23. Immediately the resultwas announced Sir Henry Parkes wired to His Excellency the Governor, who is on a visit to Mossvale, asking him when he woudcl return. It is believed in certain quarters that the Premier courted defeat, as he is disgusted with the recent disclosures, and intends to resign.
