THE CHINESE QUESTION.
MEETING OF MANDARINS. Hongkong, January 8. A large meeting of mandarins will be held here at an early date, when Mr. Quong Tart, a well-known merchant of Sydney, will be requested to state his views on the treatment of Chinese in Australia, and to suggest a method of equitably settling the difficulty. The Chinese question has temporarily ceased to excite public attention, owing to the preparations being made for the Emperor's marriage.
