CHARITABLE AID IN CHRISTCHURCH.

(by telegraph.—press association.] Christchuroii, Wednesday. At the Charitable Aid Board meeting this afternoon it was decided, on the casting vote of the chairman, to request tho Orphanage Committee to consider the advisability of dispensing with a teaching staff and sending the children to the State schools. The Charitable Aid Committee report outdoor relief was afforded to 508 different cases during December, 1888. The number in the previous month was 495, and in December, 1887, 506 ; 46 cases were assisted last month, which had not been relieved in November, and 33 assisted in Novomber which did nob obtain aid in December.
