Three young lads were each fined 10s, and costs 3s Sd, ab the Police Court to-day for throwing stones on the roof of a house to annoy its inmate, an elderly woman. The Thames manager of the Kauri Timber Company has let a contract to Messrs. Sutcliffe, McLair, and Tuckey for falling, crosscufcting and delivering, from Puranui Creek into the Kauaeranga River,; : 6,ooo,ooo feet of kauri timber at 2s 8d per, \OO feet. The secretary of the District , .Hospital and Charitable Aid Board received a telegram from the Treasury Dep&rtmept to-day announcing that the manager of ithe local branch of the Bank of New Zealand had been instructed to pay the £186 due by the Piako Council to the Charitable Aid Board, and the £211 13s 10d to the Hospital Board.

Mr. Wm. Carpenter was duly installed Mayor of the Borough at noon to-day.
