Tho Chairman pointed out that Dr. Bell had bad a considerable addition to his duties. Mr. Holland thought that before reducing the salaries they should notify their intention to the gentlemen holding the positions. Mr. Buckland said he proposed this motion in order*that Mr. Udy should give notice of his proposal to reduce the salaries. Thk Stonebreakin« Question.—A report with respect to the deputation from the Board who waited upon the Hon. Mr. Richardson wis read. The Chairman spoke on the subject, and said he thought that stonebreaking work would have to be resumed, and they might apply to the Minister of Lands for a site for the purpose. He was of opinion that the price per yard should now be so low that it would be no inducement whatever for men to continue the work. It was agreed that work at stonebreaking should not again be given to ablebodied men. On the motion of Mr. Ambury, it was decided, " That the future rate for stonebreaking be *2s 6d per yard," and the Board also resolved to communicate with the various highway boards requesting them to fix sites, should it be decided to resume the work. Mr. Lennox hoped that the Board would not expend money upon such a scheme. He found at the Hospital the other day two fever wards without a single patient. He was opposed to the idea of nurses sleeping away from the Hospital. In answer to Mr. Ambury, Mr. Atkin said that there would be a diminution in the number of Hospital patients when the new Refuge was erected. Mr. Mays suggested that the consideration of the matter should be deterred until the Refuge question was settled. Some of the members required further information upon the subject. The motion was withdrawn. HoNOUAKY CONSI'LTINO JJL'RCEON.—The Chairman gave notice that he would move, "That the Board appoint a honorary consulting surgeon in the room of tho late Dr. Goldbro , ."
