DISCOVERY OF SILVER.
IMPORTANT FUND NEAR TE KUITI. VERY RICH ORE. j [BY TELEGRAPH.own correspondent.] j Hamilton, Wednesday. i A few days ago your Otorohanga correspondent referred to a rumour that silver | ore in paying quantities existed at the . Mokau. That rumour has now received j confirmation, semi-official and otherwise, j and there seems little doubt of the value of i the find. Those acquainted with the de- i tails speak of it as likely to be as rich and ! as extensive as the Broken Hills field itself, and certainly a piece of galena ore shown to me yesterday by Major Jackson at . Ohaupo is as rich in the precious metal as : it is almost possible to be. The exact locality is not openly spoken of, but it is ; not far from Te Kuiti, and lies between the Otorohanga and the Mokau districts, : The land is in process of going through the J Court. The value of such a field in close I proximity with the farming community of j Waikato can scarcely be over-estimated.
