o POLICE COURT.—Friday. [Before Mr. D. G. MacDoimell, J.P.] Drunkenness.—Annie Dunn was fined 10s and costs, or 48 hours' imprisonment in default, for drunkenness. The Bench questioned the defendants as to their I connection with the volunteer force, when I Casey replied that he had never previously ' bundled a rifle, whilst Fairweather said he i had been a volunteer only a fortnight. A i line of £1 and costs was imposed. Mr. i O'Meagher, who was present in Court, I said he thought 'it a pity that ball cartridges were supplied to recruits until they understood the management of their weapons. Breaches of By-law.—Ernest F. Bullock was fined 5s and costs for having ridden a horse at other than a walking pace round the corner at the junction of two streets. This penalty was also imposed in the cases of John Bond and G. Worrall, i charged with similar breaches of the by- '■ law. Rescuing Goods.—The hearing of the charge against Andrew Austin, of rescuing goods which had been levied under process of the Resident Magistrate's Court, was again deferred until Monday. _ Mr. Theo. , Cooper appeared for the plaintiff and Mr. j O'Meagher for the defendant.
