COUNTRY NEWS.

[by telegraph.— own correspondents.] Cambridge, Friday. Business appears to be looking up, and, spite of hard times, lots of leady money seems to be left in the district, judging by the crowds that attended Mr. Wells' clearing sale of Houghton's stock. The premises formerly occupied by Lewis and Simpson will be shortly re-opened in the hardware business by a well-known Auckland firm, and it is very probable that at the expiration of Mr. Well's' three months' lease, Mr. Houghton's place will be occupied by a gentleman who was recently in business Tiere. Grand growing weather has been experienced lately, and farmers and fruitgrowers are expecting good returns.
