[BV XELEGKAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENTS.] Thames, Friday. Paroquet (Waiomo).— Mr. Henry Corin has received the appointment of underground manager of this mine, and ib is rumoured operations are to be resumed in a few days with a gang of twenty men. Saxon. —Good progress is being made with the extension of No. 5 level through a good class of country, and the winze to connect with it from No. 4 level, is down '20 feet. A special meeting of the County Council is to be held on Monday next to consider the correspondence received from the Mining Inspector and Messrs. Clark and Phillips, managers of the Prince Imperial mine and Big Pump respectively, re the defects in the malleable iron pipes of water supply, particulars of which I furnished during the week.
