DROWNED AT SEA.
[by telegraph.—PßESS ASSOCIATION'.] Wellington", Thursday. During the voyago of the barque Chili, which arrived this morning from Newcastle, ail able seaman, John Striblery, was drowned on Sunday evening, when the vessel was off Cape Egmont. During a heavy southerly gale, while engaged with others in furling the upper niaintopsail, he fell from a topsail yard into the water. A lifebuoy was thrown overboard to him, and the barque immediately hove-to, but by this time the unfortunate man had fallen far astern, and was lost sight of. It being too rough to lower a boat nothing further could be done to save him.
