BRITAIN & RAROTONGA.
[PRESS association.] London, October 3. Lord Knutsford states that the protectorate over Rarotonga and all the islands of the Hervey Group was established in compliance with the request of the New Zealand Government. Wellington, Friday. The Government state that they know nothing of the annexation of Rarotonga, and assert that they never made any request to the Imperial Government for the establishment of a protectorate.
