The weekly returns of the Bank of England published to-day show the total reserve in notes and bullion to be £12,200,000, and the proportion of reserve to liabilities 42 per cent., being an increase of £250,000 on the total reserveand an increase of 2 per cent, in the pro portion of reserve to liabilities.

LONDON WOOL SALES. London, September 27. At the wool auctions to-day 12,000 bales were sold.
