[PRESS ASSOCIATION.] MUNICIPAL LOAN.
London, September 21. Tenders are called for a municipal loan for the town of Hobart. The amount is £50,000, with 5 per cent interest, and the minimum is fixed at 108. Tenders will be opened on September 23.
MR. GLADSTONE. London, September 20. Mr. Gladstone pays a visit to Birmingham shortly for the purpose of delivering a political address. A public demonstration in his honor is being organised by the local Liberal Clubs.
THE PANSLAVIST BISHOP. Rome, September 19. Bishop Strossmayer, of Djakovan* has been summoned to this city.
THE FRENCH IMPORT DUTY ON
CEREALS.
Paris, September 21. M. Floquet has announced that the Government have decided not to suspend the import duty on cereals.
A TRAIN DERAILED.
Berlin, September 21. A train conveying 1500 soldiers was derailed near Werben, and upset. Only slight injuries, however, were sustained by the troops.
THE RETALIATION BILL. Washington, September 19. The Foreign Committee of the Senate has referred the Retaliation Bill to a sub-committee.
FRANCE AND THE MARQUESAS. London, September 21. A telegram has been received from San Francisco, stating that the French flag has been hoisted on the Marquesas group.
