THE MELBOURNE INTERCOLONIAL RIFLE MATCH.
A FURTHER meeting of the Auckland Volunteers is to be held to consider the question of sending representatives from Auckland to take part in the Victoria Rifle Association meeting, to be held during the Exhibition at Melbourne. It is to be hoped there will be a good attendance in order that something definite may be arrived at. For the information of those interested we give the following details of ten matches, in which New Zealand competitors are en tilled to take part : — Match 11.—300, 600, and 800 yards ; 21 shots ; entrance, 10s; 75 prizes, value, £300.
Match 12.—500, 600, and 700 yards; 21 shots ; entrance, 10s ; SI prizes ; value, £300.
Match 13.—500 and 600 yards ;14 shots ; entrance, 7s 6d ; 69 prizes, value £175. Match 14.—Rapidity, 500 yards ; entrance. 5s ; GO prizes, value £150. Match 15.—800 yards; 7 shots; entrance, 5a ; 40 prizes, value £100. Match 16.—500 and GOO yards ;14 shots ; entrance, 7s fid ; !)1 prizes, value £200. Match 17.—Unknown distance, 60secs. j entrance, 7s o'd ; 69 prizes, value, £150. Match 18.—400 and 600 yards ; 14 shots ; entrance, 7s 6d ; 91 prizes, value £240. Match] 9. —500 yards; 7 shots ; entrance, 5s ; h'9 prizes, value £150. Match2o.—6ooyards; 7 shots ; entrance, 5s ; 40 prizes, value £100. Ib will thus be seen that it is open to New Zealand competitors to enter for matches representing 6f14 prizes of the total value of £1865, and the total entrance money tor each competitor is £3 10s ; but, in addition, he has to pay 10s Gd subscription, Is for a book, and a late fee of ss— making a total of £4 6s (id.
