London, September 13. The return match, Australian Eleven against Shrewsbury's team, .commenced to-day at Manchester. The latter went first to the wickets, and at the luncheou adjournment had lost three wickets for 90. Later.

In the return match between the Australian. Eleven and Shrewsbury's team the latter made 195, the highest scores being— M. Read (20), Newham (32), Docker (32), Lohmann (35), and Briggs (37). Turner took H wickets for 72, and Trott 3 for (50. The Australians were unable to stand against the bowling of Briggs and Lohmann, and the last wicket fell with the total at 35. Ferris was the highest scorer with 14. Briggs took 6 wickets for 17, and Lohmann 3 for 16.
