RETURN OF THE ENGLISH FOOTBALLERS.

The English Football Team returned from Sydney yesterday by the s.s. Manapouri. About 200 people were assembled on the wharf, and as the steamer approached her berth at the outer eastern tee three cheers were given for the visitors, who were standing in a group at the forward end of the saloon deck. The first of the spectators to greet the Englishmen was their old friend Professor C'arrollo, who had stationed himself at the extreme end of the wharf, from which point of 'vantage he waved his hat when the vessel was a short distance off, this signal being cordially returned. Shortly after the Manapouri was berthed the footballers landed, and proceeded to the Imperial Hotel, where they will reside during their stay in Auckland.
