THE KATE TATHAM.
[BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Thursday. An attempt was made at high tide last night to float the barque Kate Tatham, stranded near the Wairau bar, but owing to an accident to the pulsometer pump, operations had to be abandoned. The bulkheads were opened to allow the water to flow in the fore and aft compartments, so as to steady the vessel, and when the repairs to the pump are effected, another attempt will be made. It is believed the vessel will be floated off.
