SHOCKING AFFAIR IN MELBOURNE.

Melbourne, August 21. Shortly before six this morning a man wa observed walking along the railway line near the south end of the platform at Spen-cer-street. He was warned to clear off the line or he might be run over. He called out in reply, " I am the Son of God; no train can do me any harm." The six o'clock Essendon train came up a moment afterwards, and the man, not taking the slightest notice of it or of the shouts of the spectators, was run over and killed instantly. He is supposed to have been insane. The body has not yet been identified.
