Napier, Wednesday. The Borough Council to-night adopted the report of the Electric Lighting Committee, which rocommended the Council to await the result of the experiment to be tried in Wellington and other towns.
Welunoton , , Wednesday. It is stated that the Hon. Mr. Larnach has instituted proceedings against the proprietors of the New Zealand Hebald, Auckland, for libel, claiming £20(X) damages, and has retained as counsel Sir Robert Stout and the Hon. P. Buckley. In the seven months of the rating year just expired no less than 220 dwellinghouses have been erected in the city, besides a large number of business premises.

[Dunkdin, Wednesday. John Griffiths, a rabbiter, has been found dead on Oibell's run, twenty miles from Waikoimiti.
Ac the City Court Dr. Wanless was fined £20 for a breach of the Stamp Act.
