THE TRAMCARS.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—Everyone who travels bv tram from Epsom will endorse every word or Mr. Brookrield's letter in yesterday's Herald re the offensive odour in the carriages. In fact, when they are first brought out of the car shed in the morning the carriages reek with the rank effluvia, which is not only offensive but positively sickening. Self-interest ought to impel the Tramway Company to lose no time in getting rid of this villainous stench. With many in Onehuuga it is a toss up whether to travel by train or train, and this offensive "matter in the wrong place " may suffice to turn the scale in favour of the rail. —I am, etc. Adam Laybocrn. Durham-street, Auckland, July 20, ISBB.
