FRENCH NAVAL PORTS.
INCREASED DEFENCES. LARGE EXPENDITURE. [PKESS ASSOCIATION.] Paris, July 16. Admiral Krantz, Minister of Marine, has asked the Chamber of Deputies to vote the sum of 67 million francs for the purpose of strengthening the harbour defences of Brest, Cherbourg, and Toulon, but the Chamber refused to allow it being made a question of urgency. July 18. The Chamber of Deputies has approved of Admiral Krant'a scheme of strengthening the harbour defences.
