[by telegraph— correspondents.] Thames, TuesdayDeep Level Cross.—lt is rumoured here that the Deep Level Cross Company are about to relinquish their ground under the old Mining Act, and take it up under the new Act, which permits of the ground being held with a less number of men employed. Caledonian.A crosscut has been started in No. 2 level, to intersect Hodge's leader. Another trial crushing from No. 1 reef, No. 1 level, was begun today. MINE MANAGERS" REPORTS. Cambria.The tee drive at No. 4 level is now in a distance of 60 feet from the crosscut. A leader about three inches in thickness was cut in this drive on Friday last. Good dabs and colours of gold were seen when .breaking it down. Gold was also seen when .breaking down the leader on Saturday, and -31b of picked stone came to hand when breaking it down on Monday. The winze on the main reef in the intermediate level east is down a depth of 32 feet. Eighteen inches of the hangmgwall portion or the reef is being carried down in the winze. There are nine inches of the hangingwall portion of the reef carrying good mineral. Gold was seen freely through the quartz when breaking down the reef on Friday last, and 71b of picked stone came to hand. The quartz that is being crushed from here is shaping for about loz to the load. Ten loads of tailings have been put through the berdans for the return of 20oz of amalgam. The battery is running ten- hours per day—ten head on company's dirt, and ten head on public crushing. Blanche.—The tributers Williams and party have finished a crushing of one load of quartz for 4oz lOdwt, and Thomson and party one load of quartz for the return of loz sdwt of melted gold. Saxon.— mine manager telegraphed yesterday:—" Broke down reef, No. 5 level, six inches thick, showing colours of gold ; picked 151b stone from footwall portion of reef, leading stope, No. 3 level."
