Thames, Tuesday. At a meeting of footballers to-night two teams were selected to go into training, from which a picked fifteen will be chosen to go to Auckland and play Auckland representatives on August 4.
[press ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Tuesday. A fireman belonging to the steamer lonic, who had been detected smuggling tobacco, was to-day mulcted in fines amounting to £9.
The Wellington Operative Boot Manufacturing Company have decided to wind up. Since the commencement it has been a losing concern. The total liabilities are about £300.
CimiSTCHURcn, Tuesday. Geo. Kyrison, Wm. Batchelor, and T. S. Batchclor were committed for trial at Rangiory. to-day on a further charge of stealing eheerj belonging to John Valkucc.
