FOOTBALL.
THE NATIVE MATCH.
The football match to-morrow afternoon at Potter's Field, between the Native team and the Auckland representatives, promises to be of unusual interest, and eager inquiries are daily made of " Who will win?" Apart from the fact that the visitors are the first body of New Zealand athletes which has undertaken to try its fortune against the players of the United Kingdom on their own grounds, considerable speculation has arisen concerning the merits of the Natives, as, it is held that a fair gauge of their chances of success can be made from the form shown in interprovincial matches, especially after the recent series played by the English team. In regard to the probable result of the match to-morrow a great diversity of opinion prevails, an easy victory for either side being prognosticated by many supporters of the rival teams. That an exceedingly well-fought game of first-class Rugby football will be produced there is little doubt, as each team is composed of efficient players, well drilled to combined action, and in excellent physical condition. The usual complete arrangements concerning the necessary details have been made lay the Rugby Union for the convenience of the public, while the question of transit to and from the scene of play is safely left in the hands of the Tramway Company and the 'bus proprietors. The names of the Auckland representatives were published in Wednesday's Herald, while Mr. J. H. War brick has selected his contingent as follow :—Fullback, D. Gage ; three-quarters, W. Wynyard, J. H. Warbrick, Wm. Warbrick ; halves, Ihimaira, Fred. Warbrick ; forwards, O. Williams, A. Webster, Arthur Warbrick, Wi Karawia, R. Maynard, G. Wynyard, T. Ellison, Taare, and R. Taiaroa.
