MINING ACCIDENT.

[from our own correspondent.] Thames, Wednesday. An accident occurred at the Saxon mine between ten and eleven o'clock last evening, whereby two men, named respectively George Snelgar and Alfred Newdick, sustained injuries of a painful character, the former having the small bone of his right leg broken, with one or two slight bruises on other parts of his body, and the latter having his left shoulder blade severely bruised. The two men had just fired a shot in the second , stope above No. 3 level, and were engaged in taking down the stone shaken by the blast, when without warning a large rock fell over upon them, falling across Snelgar's legs and jamming Newdick against the wall at the back. Both men were rescued from their perilous positions with all due speed by their mates, and taken to the Hospital, where Dr. Williams promptly attended to their injuries. Snelgar will probably be laid up several weeks in the Hospital, but Newdick was enabled to proceed to his home after his shoulder was bandaged by the doctor. Both are married men. No blame is attributable to anyone, the accident being one that may occur at any time, despite the utmost precaution.
