OUR DOCTORS AND THE GOLDEN CHARIOT.

TO THE EDITOR.

Sir, —If " St. Leger," or any other doctor, wants to know why suffering people seek for relief from travelling doctors I can tell them it is because the resident doctors do not cure many chronic complaints, that they ought to have the ability to cure. When our own doctors cannot cure paralysis, chronic rheumatism, etc., surely they need not abuse even a travelling doctor. As Dr. Bake well said in his letter, the profession may learn some good by inquiring into the operations of others "even those of a woman." I know nothing from personal acquintance of the abilities of Madame Duflot and party, but have heard of many charitable acts of theirs that are well worthy of imitation. Were our doctors more anxious and better able to cure disease, they would have plenty of patients, and less would be heard of quacks. Should there be in Auckland any doctor who can cure paralysis, chronic rheumatism, etc., ho will doubtless hear of many patients who would willingly pay when a cure is effected, but who are not in a position to pay for being experimented on. Any doctor who is really competent would surely be willing to undergo such a test of his or her ability. Patients do not care whether such doctors belong to Auckland or not, so long ais they are relieved from their infirmities. Now, good and able doctors, who speaks first? We shall not need Dr. BakewelFs jury of twelve ; for the money paid will prove the cure.—lam, &c, Sufferer, Auckland.
