PORT ALBERT.
The twenty-eixth Albertland anniversary was commemorated on May 29, by meetings in the Port Albert Temperance Hall. The weather was not very favourable for visitors from a distance, but, on the whole, the attendance was good. The public tea was well patronised, excellently arranged, and satisfactorily dealt with. The evening meeting was presided over by Mr. Edward Browne, and on the platform were the well-known faces of Messrs. French, J. Coupland, J. Shepherd, etc. Besides the preceding, the Rev. Mr. Mather, Mr. Hadfield, and others gave brief addresses suitable for the occasion. Mr. W. Armitage had conduct of the music, Mr. G. Nicholson presiding at the piano. Songe from Misses Gray and White, a violin duet by Messrs. W. Armitage ana A. Webster, and other musical contributions; and an intelligent and appreciative audience, with a few semi-civilised exceptions, combined to make the meeting interesting and agreeable. Hearty votes of thanks were passed to all who had attended to the bodily needs and provided for the mental recreation of those present, and also to the chairman,—{Own Correspondent.]
