IMPERIAL PENSIONS.

TO TILE EDITOR.

Sir, —Some months ago I forwarded to you a communication relative to discharged soldiers of Her Majesty's army. The letter in question proved of great benefit to many who happened to peruse-it. Several men called upon me, never dreaming that they were entitled to pensions. ■. They are now enrolled on the Pension • List, and a few have received from eighteen months' to two years' back pension. Now, as there , must be a very great many soldiers who have just now or are about to reach-the age of 60 yearsconsidering the many hundreds of the 58th and 65th"Regiments who were discharged in this colony, either in Auckland, Wellington, .Tarnnaki, Napier, and the Southern provinces—l would, on behalf of these men, beg of you to call their attention to the provisions of the Royal Warrant —viz.,'"That soldiers who served ,Her Majesty for 14- years and were in possession of two good conduct badges on discharge, or 15 years with one badge, or 16 years and upwards with no badge, are entitled to 6d per diem on reaching the age of 60 years," notwithstanding the fact that they received a gratuity of £18 ss, or one year's pension, on discharge. Many believe that this gratuity debars them from pension : such is not the case.— am, &c., Burton J. Daveney, Officer paying Imperial pensions. Imperial Pensions Office, Auckland, May 29, ISBS.
