Wellington ..84 40 1.42 Christchurch ..39 3J. 0.68 Dunedin.. ..40 SS 1.60 Thames .. ..16 2 0.41 New Plymouth.. 16 4 1.43 Napier .. ..31 17 202 Wanganul ..15 8 . • 0.00 Blenheim ..11 S 1.03 Nelson .. ..14 U 1.44 Sydenham .-28 T 0.78 Lyttelton ..18 4 0.75 Ttmaru .. ..16 ~ 4 1.03 Oamaru .. ..18 7 1.32 Greymouth ..7 4 1.19 HoUitika ..6 0 0.0 Caversham ..4 8 0.65 Invercargill ..23 0 0.0 Totals .. 462 197 The deaths of persons not residents of the boroughs occurring at hospitals has been excluded In all eases. The total births in the above boroughs amounted to 402, as against 411 in March, an increase of 21. The deaths in April were 107, an increase of 62 on the number for March. Of the total deaths, males contributed 111, females 80 71 «f the deaths were of children under five years of ace, being 36.04 per cent, of the whole number; 54 of these were under one year of age.
