THE BROKEN HILLS MAROTOTO SWINDLE.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—The colony at large, and the Auckland district in particular, is heavily indebted to Mr. Warden Northcroft and the Herald for the fearless manner in which the latest mining swindle has been brought to exposure. Permit me to suggest that Government be called upon to offer a reward of £1000 for such information as will lead to the conviction of the guilty parties in this case, with a free pardon to an accomplice. If such diabolical swindles are not stamped out at once and effectually good-bye to our progress as a mining colony. Should the Government decline to offer the above reward, I propose it be raised in the district, and I shall be happy to subscribe my quota.—l am, &c., Justice of the Peack.
