RENDERED MAD IN THE BUSH.
A telegram which appears in the Sydney Morning Herald of the 24th ultimo, dated Mount Victoria the day previous, says :— Large bodies of settlers scoured the country yesterday in search of a man who was lost in the bush, but up to five p.m. no trace was found. Mr. N. Delaney then came on his tracks in a swamp leading back to the ranges of the Kanimbla Valley. The tracks were followed up with little hope of success till just about dusk, when the man was discovered in a state of madness, standing on a high rock overlooking a precipice, with his arms folded on his breast, calmly surveying the rescuers. "I presume you are looking for me," was the astonishing reply to the shout which announced his discovery. The man was perfectly naked, with the exception of his trousers, and his j bare back was fearfully burned by exposure to the sun. Though he had eaten I nothing for three days, he refused food, I saying, "I have just dined at the camp." .He was brought in at seven p.m. to Hartley, and locked up,; as he had evidently gone mad, and was unfib to bo at large.
