WELLINGTON NOTES.
[BY TELEGRAPH. OWN correspondent.] Wellington, Tuesday. MEETING 01? PARLIAMENT. It is decided that Parliament shall meet for the dispatch of business on the 10th of May next. „ MINISTERIAL MOVEMENTS. The Premier and the Minister of Justice propose to go to Dunedin on Friday next should no unforeseen obstacle intervene. As to the probability of the Premier delivering an address in Dunedin, it will much depend upon the character of the requisition that may bo made. The Hon. Mr. Hislop, Colonial Secretary, is expected to return to Wellington to-morrow. The Hon. Mr. Fisher, left here yesterday for Wanganui en route to Auckland. He proceeds to New Plymouth this evening, and will go by the s.s. VVanaka to Auckland. The Wanaka left hero this afternoon at five o'clock. ' S THE rUHIFUHI FOREST. Professor Kirk has arrived in Wellington from Auckland. He estimates the damage done to the Puhipuhi forest at £10,000, and the value of the timber in the forest at £300,000. RAILWAYS. It is stated that there will bo a good many changes in the Locomotive Department of New Zealand railways. Mr. Rotherham, the locomotive superintendent for the South Island, is to be removed to Wellington Mr. Ronayne, the present manager of the Petone workshops, will succeed Mr. Rotherham in the Addington workshops; Mr. Beattie, the present manager of the W anganui workshops, will take the place of Mr. Ronayne at Petone.
