THE MELBOURNE EXHIBITION.
Melbourne, March 29. It is estimated that the outlay in connection with the Exhibition will be £217.000, nearly £60,000 being for electric light, and that the net proceeds will not exceed £100,000. : : ' It is understood that the Canadian manufacturers Lave decided to compete at the Melbourne Exhibition,land,that they will make a splendid show o;Eagricultural machinery. " "
At a meeting of the Exhibition Commissioners, it was decided that Dr. Hector should be appointed Executive Commissioner to go to Melbourne as the officer in charge cf the New. Zealand Court. He will be fully authorised to preclude , all inferior specimens of any kind from being exhibited, : and all such will be returned to .the owners forthwith, who will render themselves liable for all expenses incurred in despatching same, and in the cost of returning them to the ' colony.
