Shortly after four o'clock yesterday morning, the island steamer ainui arrived from "Wellington, after a good run of 37 hours from that port. Having completed her loading, the island schooner iMailc hauled out into the stream yesterday, and is now all ready to sail. She will probably get away about daybreak. On Tuesday morning the schooner Three Cheers arrived at the Thames. She has gone up the river to load at the Junction Sawmill with timber for Normanton, Queensland. On Saturday the schooner Jessie Nicco: will leave this port for Mercury Bay, where the is to take in sawn timber lor Brisbane. The Union S.S. Co. Wairarapa left al noon yesterday for Melbourne via the South with a number of passengers and general cargo. During the past 2.8 days the Fijian mail Steamer Wainui has been kept pretty busily steaming, and has in the course of her round trips travelled no less than O'yOO miles in the time mentioned. On account of to-day's holiday a special trip to Whangarei was undertaken last night )jV the Northern S.S. Co.'s steamer Argyle, which left at 7 o'clock, with a fair number oi passengers. The Wellington, which came in last night, will remain in port till Saturday, When she will leave for Whangarei. At an early hour this morning the Clansman is expected from Northern ports. She will start on an excursion trip for Mahurangi at 10 o'clock. After having been laid up in port fornix •weeks, the s.s. Chelmsford has had her broken shaft replaced, and will resume her running to Opotiki and Whakatane on Tuesday next. Yesterday evening the Jubilee S.S. Co.'s Stormbird arrived from Whangarei, with a good number of passengers and the following cargo :—l4 sacks gum, 20 cases fruit. 10 boxes Gutter, 1 horse, and 1 ton sundries.
