THE CAMBRIDGE DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL.
A Cambridge correspondent writes I The proposal to abolish the Cambridge District High School is strongly opposed in Waikato. It is felt that Waikato is entitled to participate in the benefits of secondary education, and if the school closed those who desire it must send their children to Auckland or elsewhere. The committee recently solicited boarders, and three youths from a distant district attend the school now. whilst three others are being trained at the school for teachers. This school serves the twofold purpose of providing secondary education and training teachers. The committee have laid a proposal before the Board for to-mor-row's meeting to undertake the maintenance of the school of the Board will contribute a sum not exceeding £25 per annum The fees receivable will pay balance of the £100 required to maintain the school. This is a small sum. and it is thought the Education Board might reasonably give it, as the school is widely extending its usefulness, and serving a useful purpose in Waikato,
