PONSONBY LICENSING ELECTION.

« The nominations for the Ponsonby Licensing District were received yesterday by Mr. S. Y. Collins, Returning Officer for that district. Temperance candidates: Stephen James Ambury, John Banbury, George Gregory, Alfred Osborne Knight, and Sir William Fox. Brewers' candidates : Joseph Taylor Arinitage, Edmund Thomas Dufaur, Thomas Masefield, Daniel Birrell McDonald, and Charles Samuel Wright. Owing to the illness of Mr. J. B. Morpeth ho has been replaced in the brewers' ticket by Mr. J. T. Armitage. On the temperance ticket Messrs. Banbury and Gregory relace Messrs. J. Buchanan and Swales. Mr. Buchanan is at present away at Rotorua, and as he had gone without having left his written authority to be nominated, his name had to be removed from the temperance ticket.
