CITY SCHOOLS COMMITTEE.

The usual meeting of the City Schools Committee took place last evening at the Wellosley-street schoolroom. Mr. W. Goriio presided. All the members of the committee were present. Napier-street School Staff. — Mr. Hart, head teacher, submitted a list of the teaching staff in new school. Question adjourned till re-adjustment of city schools staff. He also asked that steps be taken to furnish it. Requisition sent to Education Board. Board approved of committee's suggestion that Mr. Hart, head teacher Nelson-street School, be appointed to Napier-street School, and his successor for former school will be advertised for. Board desired to know probable number of scholars who could be withdrawn from Nelson street and other city schools on opening of new school. School Attendance—the "Strict" Average.—Letter received from Education Board acknowledging letter from committee re attendance on 31st January. Board referred committee to clause 3 of the regulations by Governor-in-Council as to attendance register. The Board had no power to give such direction as suggested by the committee. CiTir Schools Fond Account.—Letter from Board notifying that £173 15s had been paid to credit of school-fund account at Bank of New Zealand, being school-fund allowance for the half-year ending 30th June—Wellesley-street School, £60 ; Beresford - street, £50 ; Nelson-street, £40 ; Franklin Road, £15 ; Albert-street, £815s.
