Cambria.— crosscut at No. 4 level has now reached half its distance (about 205 feet) to its ultimate destination, viz., the bottom of the winze sunk on No. 7 leader. Prior to carrying it there, it is intended to deviate the crosscut to intersect the main lode underneath the best mineral found in No. 4 drive at No. 3 level. The deviation will be begun almost immediately. The main reef at the spot indicated will, therefore, be in hand at No. 4 level many months sooner than calculated, and enable the value of the reef to be ascertained at the locality of the gold sooner than expected at No. 4 level. Diamond.— mine manager reports that he has commenced to sink a winze at the low level of the old workings, where he obtained the best gold.
