The two Foresters' lodges from the Thames made an excursion to Coromandel 011 Monday, bringing their wives and sweethearts with them. Shortly after nine o'clock in the morning the s.s. Rotomahana was seen rounding the Heads. Our local lodges turned out in full regalia to welcome their brethren ; and as the steamer came alongside the wharf it was seen that there was an immense crowd on board, numbering about 450 souls, and a considerable number was left behind at the Thames. They were soon landed, and a procession was formed, headed by a brass band, with two splendid banners, when they niarchcd'up towards Mr. Lynch's paddock, kindly lent for the occasion, where swings and other amusoments were entered upon with spirit. Many of the visitors had friends and relatives here, who took them off, and many others spread themselves over the district to see the sights, but towards night they returned to the steamer, accompanied by a very large number of Coromandelites, and shortly after six o'clock the good ship got underweigh, amidst the cheers and good wishes of those left behind. Altogether it was a most enjoyable day, and will long be remembered.—[Own Correspondent.]
