CONGREGATIONAL UNION.
[by TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Dunedin, Friday. At the Congregational Union to-day the request of the Nelson Church to dispose of a . section of land was acceded to. Tho grants to several districts were as follow:—Auckland, £125 ; Wellington, £70 ; Christchurch, £80 ; Otago, £125 ; to bo allotted on the usual plan, with the exception of a part of the Wellington grant, viz., £40, being a special grant to Courtenay Place Church. Several resolutions relating to the constitution were considered, some being carried and others withdrawn. Tho following resolution was passed unanimously: — " That the Council sympathises with tho aims and objects of the New Zealand Alliance and other organisations for the suppression of the liquor traffic and social intemperance, and heartily commends the adoption of the principles of such organisations to the prayerful consideratkm of tho' various churches of the Union." Courtenay Place Church was received into Union, and the Rev. W. Powell as associate. Tho olection of officers resulted as follows:—J. W. Jago, chairman-elect; J. Elkin, treasurer ; W. W. Knowlcs, registrar; H. J. Le Bailley, auditor. Ministers and delegates were elected, and an executive committee. The next annual meeting was fixed to be held at Auckland. Tho meeting passed , votes of thanks and concluded.
