THE TE AROHA MAIL SERVICE.

[by telegraph, —OWN' correspondent.] Te Akoha, Friday. The possibility of inducing the Government to increase the subsidy offered some time since, 60 that daily mail connection may be re-established between To Aroha and Auckland, via Waikato, is now considered so remote that the residents have determined to raise the extra sum required among themselves. An amount about equal to that offered by Government has been subscribed, and the two sums will be sufficient to effect restoration of the daily service. However necessary retrenchment may be, the policy seems to bo stretched just a little too much when it compels the people to put their hands into their pockets to pay for work which ought undoubtedly to be undertaken wholly by Government.
