BANKRUPTCY.
DEBTOR'S EXAMINATION. John Bbamlky.This debtor was examined on oath yesterday by the fficial Assignee, and stated that he had resided in the Whangaroa district for the past twenty-seven years, and had been employed as a gum and stores packer since 1880, working by contraot. His earnings had not been more than sufficient to keep his family. Lately, owing to depressed times, business had been very slack, and his dealings had been almost all by contra account ), and bis liabilities consisted mostly of balances due. He had been doing his best to pay his way, but two 01 three of his creditors pressed him, and he was obliged to file. His assets consisted oi four balances in his favour, amounting in all to £36 14' lid.. His furniture and effect* were worth considerably less than £25. He owned some harness, which had been bought last month for £3 17s 3d. He had no offer to make, except to hand over *11 he had left to his creditors. FILING. Thomas John Mcelroy.—Thomas John McElroy, corn and produce dealer, Karangahape Road, filed a petition yesterday to be adjudged a bankrupt, MEETING OF CREDITORS. Thomas Kino. meeting of the creditors in this estate was held yesterday forenoon, Mr. Lawson presiding. There were six creditors and the debtor present. After some discussion Mr. J. Lamb moved, and Mr. J. R. Smith seconded, "That the offer made by the debtors' friends to purchase the whole of the assets in the estate for £106 10s, payable in fourteen days, be accepted." The motion was carried, and the meeting closed.
