Melbourne, December IC. The return match between Messrs Shaw and Lilly white's team and eleven of Victoria commenced here to-day. withstanding the fine weather, there was bat a poor attendance. The wicket provided was an excellent one. The Viotorians went in first, and were all disposed of for 68 runs, no important scores being made. The visitors then com*menced their first innings, and when the stamps were drawn for the day had lost two wickets for 178 runs, towards which Read contributed 38, Ulyett 29, Shrewsbury 86, not out, and Lohmann 13, not oat.
